More About our Private Lessons

For the past ten years, we have taught riders with a wide variety of abilities, personalities, and challenges. Throughout that experience, we have seen how special the relationship between a person and a horse can be. We have also wished we could spend more time focusing on each individual rider’s unique needs, goals, and challenges.

Our goal is to get to know each client, understand what they hope to accomplish, and create an individualized experience that meets them where they are.

Rather than following a standard riding lesson, we use our ten years of experience with horses and riders to develop activities and goals tailored to each individual.

How It Works

1. Start with a Conversation

We begin with a phone consultation to learn more about the individual, their interests, their challenges, and what they hope to gain from working with horses. This also gives us an opportunity to discuss expectations and determine whether our program is a good fit.

2. Create an Individualized Plan

Using what we learn during the consultation, we develop a lesson plan focused on the client’s specific goals, abilities, and needs.

3. Build a Meaningful Partnership

During each 50-minute private session, we work at the client’s pace, adapting activities to support their individual goals. Depending on the person and their needs, sessions may incorporate horse care, groundwork, horsemanship, riding, or other appropriate activities.

4. Grow One Session at a Time

As we get to know the client, we can adjust activities and goals to reflect their progress, changing needs, and growing relationship with the horse.

Horses invite us to slow down, pay attention, communicate, and build trust. We look forward to creating opportunities for our clients to explore those experiences in a setting where their individual goals matter.

We are excited to see what becomes possible when we can give one person, one horse, and one set of goals our full attention.

More About Equine Therapy

We would love to clarify our scope. We aren't working with a licensed mental health professional. We are supporting personal growth and well-being rather than treating depression, PTSD, anxiety, or other diagnoses. However, if horses could be licensed therapists, ours would be. For 10 years, we have been helping people connect with horses and be healed through horses. Let us show you what we can do.

Our teachers have volunteered at the National Ability Center in Park City, where they provide recreational therapy activities. They have learned the ways of PATH International (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) and how to provide a fun and safe experience for almost all students.

A miracle is defined as an extraordinary event that is not explicable by scientific law but that is considered to be the work of a divine agency. We have witnessed firsthand the miracles that horses perform with humans.

Teenagers struggling with identity find their confidence, young people that have special needs move faster towards their mental and physical goals and people that haven't smiled all day do smile and giggle while interacting with the horses.

We are not providing licensed mental health treatment. We are providing Individual Equine Experiences, Personalized Equine Sessions, or Therapeutic Horsemanship. These all may be more accurate than Equine Therapy. We are not providing clinical treatment.
